“Come, let’s talk this over, says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!” Isaiah 1:18 TLB
What a sweet promise, isn’t it? No matter how badly we’ve blown it, or how messed up we may be, God still invites us to draw near. There’s nothing we can bring to Him that will scare Him away and there’s nothing we carry with us that He’s not willing to forgive. If you’re like me when I first walked into recovery, maybe you think that seems too good to be true.
“Does God really want to forgive my sins? Is God’s love really that big?” The answer that God again and again gives us is, “Yes. I really do love you that much.” In our place of greatest shame and pain, God gives us an invitation to come to him, talk it over, and find the healing we desire.
This week at Celebrate Recovery, we get a chance to do that together as we walk through and acknowledge that we can’t move forward unless we face what’s holding us back.
